What type of patient concerns can be addressed by Virtual Kids?

Virtual Kids’ mission is to provide urgent pediatric consultation services for acute problems. The pediatricians at Virtual Kids are able to manage virtually many of the common concerns that would be seen at an emergency department or an urgent care clinic.

Our doctors provide expert assessment and advice via secure videoconference or by telephone.

Our doctors will ensure that any child that requires in-person physical assessment or a medical procedure will be referred to an urgent care or emergency department.

Will Virtual Kids see families that require long-term follow-up?

No.

Our service, much like an urgent care clinic, is intended to address acute concerns and clinical presentations. Our doctors do not have the ability to take on the longitudinal care of patients.

Our service is complementary to patients’ medical homes and our doctors will communicate with the child’s primary care provider or pediatrician to ensure continuity of care.

Will I receive communication regarding my patient’s virtual visit?

Yes.

You will receive a consultation letter via efax from our pediatrician within 48 hours of the patient encounter.

Will I lose patients from my practice to Virtual Kids?

No.

Our doctors are here to help you serve your patients. Virtual Kids recognizes that family physicians and pediatricians are the backbone of our health care system.

Families seen through Virtual Kids will be directed back to their primary care provider or pediatrician for follow-up and ongoing care.
